Alternative Provision

We are currently developing plans for a Creative Studio from which we will deliver an Alternative Provision for young people aged 9–17 in Tiverton, Devon. This is an evolving project, shaped in response to local need and ongoing collaboration with families and professionals.

If you would like to find out more, explore partnership opportunities, know a child who could benefit, or feel able to support the project in any way, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Katie on 07766 797545.

We firmly believe that strong community projects are built collaboratively, and we remain open to ideas, dialogue, and shared problem-solving.

At the heart of Alternative Learning CIC is a commitment to creating a space where every young person feels safe, respected, and able to belong. Our relationship-led approach recognises that learning is most effective when young people feel emotionally secure, regulated, and understood.

Who We Are

CIC Lead/Director – Katie Sanders

The development of Alternative Learning CIC is led by Katie, who is based in Tiverton and home educates her two children. The project has grown from her family’s lived experience, alongside conversations with many local families seeking a different educational pathway – whether by choice or because mainstream schooling is not currently the right fit.

Alongside this, Katie is a Director of Tiverton-based marketing communications agency The Oxygen Agency, bringing experience in project development, marketing, strategic communication, and organisational leadership to the CIC.

Director – Cécile Fouillot-Jones

Cécile is an experienced project manager with over a decade of expertise in education, youth development and business growth, currently serving as an Educational Partnerships Manager. Her career spans teaching, entrepreneurship, and leading large-scale projects, from nurseries and outreach programmes to festivals and international educational nitiatives. She excels at building partnerships, creating opportunities and delivering meaningful impact for young people and communities. Motivated by roles that combine strategic planning, mentoring and creativity, Cécile focuses on developing engaging, accessible resources and initiatives that make learning impactful.

Finance Lead/Director – Steve Lodge

Steve brings strong commercial and financial leadership to the project. With a degree in accounting and extensive experience in launching, scaling, and managing successful businesses, he provides robust financial oversight and strategic direction.

Mentors and teachers

Our mentors are at the heart of everything we do. Each brings their own skills, experience and personality, but they all share one belief: meaningful learning begins with connection.

Volunteers

We are fortunate to have a growing network of individuals offering their time, skills, and technical expertise to support the development of the creative studio and the wider CIC. We also welcome contact from anyone who feels they may have something to contribute.

Funding

Securing sustainable funding is a key priority for Alternative Learning CIC as we move towards full establishment.

We are actively seeking support from funders, organisations, and partners who share our commitment to community-led initiatives, inclusion, and improving outcomes for children and young people. Funding could enable us to rent a temporary space, fund or part-fund purchase of premises, equip our Creative Studio and expand our provision.

If you are interested in supporting our work, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss our plans further and explore how your involvement could make a meaningful and lasting difference.
